Processes that run in Excel, outside your ERP

The quotation calculation. The project intake. The monthly report that gets put together by hand. It runs in Excel, one person really understands it, and it goes wrong quietly.

IT doesn't put it at the top of the list. Your ERP partner quotes an amount you can't defend. The standard module fits 60% and asks whether you'd like to change the way you work.

And when that one colleague goes on holiday, it stops.

I map a process like that and turn it into an application that connects to your ERP, with reporting included.

Understand first, then build

01

Process call

30 minutes · free

You tell me about the process your ERP doesn't cover. Afterwards you know whether it's something to build, an ERP setting or a no. You receive free advice within 2 working days.

02

The Process Week

5 working days · €1,000 excl. VAT · fixed price · introductory price for the first 5 clients

I map the process and the integration with your ERP. At the end of the week you have a fixed price for the build and a business case you can take to your board. Or well-founded advice not to build.

03

Build

A dedicated application integrated with your ERP

A dedicated application beside your ERP, integrated through its API. The data goes into a model you can query, with two or three agreed KPIs in the reporting tool you already use. If you start the build within 90 days, I credit the full €1,000.

Agreed per project

Code, documentation and access are yours. No dependency you can't end yourself. We agree on support together, per project.

This is what it can look like at an installer of charging hubs and solar roofs: quotes calculated with prices from AFAS, a margin below 18% needs approval, and no quote goes out without confirmed grid capacity. With the KPIs straight in your reporting.

After the process call

The Process Week

Within a week, a well-founded amount you can take to your board. Or a well-founded no.

What you have at the end of the week

  • A process map: the process as it really runs, on paper
  • A fit-gap analysis: what your ERP or a standard module already covers, and what it doesn't
  • An integration sketch for IT, plus half an hour with your IT department
  • A one-page business case: what the current process costs, next to the price of the build
  • A fixed price and schedule for the build, or the advice not to build

What it costs you

€2,000€1,000 excl. VAT, fixed price

Introductory price for the first 5 clients · 3 places left

Your team spends at most 4 hours on it; I plan and run the interviews. You make sure I can talk to the people who do the process that week.

No risk

If the report doesn't contain a process description, the requirements and a fixed price with its assumptions, or well-founded advice not to build, I don't send an invoice. If you start the build within 90 days, I credit the full €1,000.

I do at most one a month, because I run them myself.

Whyonlyenergy

Because this is the sector I care about. The energy transition is changing how we generate, measure, distribute and bill energy, and behind every change is a process someone has to make work. That's what I want to contribute to.

The interest started on the technical side. With my course in electrical engineering I know what happens in the field, and I can talk to fitters and technicians in their own terms.

As a commercial product manager at an energy company I saw the other side: quotes, contracts, metering data and invoicing that have to line up, and processes that just didn't fit the standard systems. That is exactly where I want to work.

Metering companies, suppliers, ESCOs, solar and storage operators, installers who work on the grid, and housing corporations with their own generation: organisations of 50 to 500 employees.

Whatwentwrongbefore

At an energy metering company, a quote-generation tool was built beside the standard systems. Technically it did what it had to do. It was hardly used: it arrived in a quarter when a large system was also being rolled out, and no one had agreed who would lead the change.

That is why everything now starts with a process call, and why "don't build" is a legitimate outcome. Software nobody uses costs more than software that never gets built.

The energy sector from the inside

As a product manager in the energy sector I worked every day with metering data, invoicing and commercial processes that just didn't fit the standard systems. I know which questions to ask there first, before anything gets built.

An ERP migration from the inside

Technical lead at Deloitte on an Azure BI platform, through an SAP S/4HANA migration. Anyone who has done that knows what happens to data that falls between systems.
